Born July 20, 1988 in San Diego, California, Steven Strasburg is a pitcher for the Washington Nationals in the MLB. He was the #1 pick of the 2009 Major League Baseball Draft, and signed a $15.1 million contract 77 before the draft deadline in 2009. He was called the “most-hyped pick in draft history” by ESPN, and pitched less than a full season in the minor leagues before making his major-league debut on June 8, 2010, against the Pittsburgh Pirates. In his debut he picked up the win and struck out 14 in seven innings, a Nationals record. Unfortunately, on August 21 he tore his UCL ligament, which requires Tommy John surgery. He will hopefully be playing again in 2012.
