Born October 25, 1984 as Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson, Katy Perry is an enormously popular pop singer. She started as a teenager singing gospel, then switched to pop music after signing with Capital Records in 2007. Her first mainstream studio album was titled One of the Boys and ended as a platinum seller, and her second album album title Teenage Dream and debuted at number one on the Billboard 200. Teenage Dream debuted in August 2010 and included the hit singles “California Gurls”, “Teenage Dream” and “Firework”, all of which topped the charts on the Billboard Hot 100. She has also released a signature fragrance (“Purr”), appeared as a judge on the British television show X-Factor, and in 2010 married actor Russell Brand.
