Nicknamed “Big Papi”, David Ortiz is one of the more feared hitters in the American League. Ortiz is a six-time all-star, and is known for coming through in clutch situations time and time again. Born on November 18, 1975, Ortiz made his professional debut in September of 1997 for the Minnesota Twins. He had a rarely spectacular few years for the Twins before being traded the the Red Sox and having his career take off. After his exploits as the DH for the Red Sox he won numerous awards, including DH of the Decade, ALCS MVP (in 2004), 4-time Silver Slugger winner, 2005 Hank Aaron Award winner, and many others. He’s truly an impressive hitter.
